the biggest surprise of the day was a first defeat for Division Eight leaders Biddestone 3rd at the hands of an improving Devizes 4th.

Lee Pitman (39) and Paul Stevens (35) helped Devizes to 200-8. Pitman then took 6-35 as despite Kevin Mitchell's 41 and Daryll Smith's 28, Biddestone were bowled out for 169.

Division One

Leaders Great Bedwyn were given a hard game at lowly Potterne before coming away with a four-wicket victory.

Thanks to Graham Gaiger's 91 not out and Gareth Jones' 47, Potterne posted a useful 205-7.

Chris Blundy (68) and Nick Maycock (44) then helped Bedwyn to victory with three overs to spare.

Marshfield maintained their undefeated record as they raced to 285-7 at home to Purton, Dan Watson, with 138, and Russell Lodge, with 79, leading the run riot.

Steady bowling then saw Purton all out for 115.

Calne and Bath Civil Service remain a distant third and fourth following their victories.

Civil Service visited bottom- of-the-table Box and scored 168-9 (Chris Kyle 48). Neil Pettit took 4-22 in 15 accurate overs.

Box were then bowled out in the 44th over for 154, with Gerald Hayward top scoring with 36 as John Cook took 3-21.

Calne scored 166-5 at Westinghouse thanks to Dan Knight's 50 and Chris Downham's 39.

Liam Botes then took 3-31 in 13.4 overs to help dismiss Westinghouse for 152 with two balls remaining.

Division Two

Spye Park and Lechlade consolidated their top two spots with victories against Seagry and Urchfont.

At Spye, visiting Seagry scored 158-8, John Haines taking 3-34 in seven overs.

Spye went on to win by six wickets with 11 balls remaining, thanks to Haines, with 59, leading the way. For Seagry, Nick Lancaster bowled well, ending with 2-33.

Lechlade entertained third- placed Urchfont and bowled them out for 132, with Fahil Khan taking 7-50 in 12.5 overs.

Lechlade were in some trouble at 53-4 but Matt Southall (52 not out) and Roger Pettifer (37 not out) steered them to victory with nine overs remaining.

Burbage & Easton Royal, in defeating fellow strugglers Beanacre, recorded their first win of the season.

Burbage scored 241-4, thanks to Pete Amor's 88 and Nick Cook's 88 not out.

Beanacre responded with 189-9 (Steve Wakely 50, Andy Footner 46).

Swindon Civil Service took advantage of Urchfont's slip to move above them into third spot following their nine-wicket home win against Buscot Park.

Buscot were bowled out for 126, which but for Hamish Millar's 65 not out would have looked even worse.

Nick Money, with 3-26 in 10.1 overs, and Andy Mildenhall, 3-45 in 11, did most of the damage.

Mike Giddings (56 not out) and Shaun Smith (42) then led Civil Service to victory.

Division Three

leaders Avebury, thanks to Dominic Fry's 91, scored 209-9 at home to Moredon Royal Oak, who were then bowled out for 165.

Blunsdon rattled up 270-7 at bottom-placed Highworth, who replied with 155-8. The win narrowed the gap to second-placed Wanborough, whose match at Cherhill was washed out.

Swindon 3rd bowled visiting Heytesbury out for 78, with Steve Cole taking 4-13 in 11 overs.

Dave Baker (32 not out) and Graham James (45 not out) then knocked the runs off in 15 overs to give Swindon an easy nine-wicket victory.

Lambourn scored 140-8 at home to Wroughton Wranglers, with John Ashdown (44) and Ian Hobbs (34) top scoring.

Mark McMeekin, with 42 not out, then led Wroughton to a six-wicket success and kept the pressure on the three sides above them.

Division Five

Nationwide House 2nd regained top spot following their 153-run home win against Swindon United Churches.

Darren Milne with 58 and Matt Pryor (58) helped Nationwide to 240-7, with Dan Hunt taking 3-19.

Andy Lewis, with 5-36, then hastened their downfall as they were dismissed for 87 in 29 overs, Brian Mead top scoring with 29.

Purton 2nd lost the leadership as they went down to third-placed Marshfield 2nd by 53 runs. For Marshfield, Andy Hampton's 48 and Ben Creed's 38 helped them to 198-8, with Paul Day taking 3-34 in 13 overs.

Rob Iles, with 4-34 in 10 overs, and Garry Pullin, with 4-26 in 12, then bowled Purton out for 145, of which Adam Miles scored 40.

Struggling Westinghouse 2nd were bowled out for 90 at Buscot Park 2nd for whom James Phillips took 4-25 in seven overs.

Andy Moreby (40 not out) and Peter Stone (28 not out) then saw Buscot home by nine wickets.

Division Six

Chippenham 3rd ran riot against struggling Box 2nd as they posted the day's top score, and their highest league total, of 377-7.

John Whiteman, with 99, Rich Harrison, with 85, and Ray Bullen, with 70, led the run feast.

Tim Rowson then took 5-16 in 8.5 overs as Box were dismissed for 80, Mick Hope top-scoring with 25.

Division Seven

Cherhill 2nd surrendered second place as they were surprisingly beaten by struggling Dauntsey Gentlemen 2nd.

In a game where runs were hard to get, Dauntsey managed 110-7, extras top scoring with 20.

Mel Cammish took 3-12 in 15 mean overs and Alan Baldwin 7-27 in 14.3 as they bowled Cherhill out for just 84 with nine balls left.

Division Eight

Swindon United Churches 2nd entertained Bathford 2nd, who scored 159-3, with Ivor Noel's 83 not out leading the way.

Churches then knocked the runs off for the loss of just one wicket with Eric Van-Zyl (83 not out) and Gareth Case (57 not out) knocking the runs off in just 26 overs.

Swindon 4th had a narrow one-wicket win at All Cannings 2nd. The home side did well to score 180-7, with Graham Mansell (45) and Mat Wormersley (37) top scoring.

Dave Parker then took 4-31 in 11.1 overs, but Aaron Dickinson's 62 and Wayne Steptoe's 50 set up the nail- biting finish as Swindon's victory came with five balls to spare.

Blunsdon 2nd were bowled out at home for 125 (Nick Walker 38 not out). Steve Gibson took 6-48 in 15 overs for visiting Highworth 2nd.

Walker then took 5-40 in 13 overs, but could not prevent Highworth gaining a four- wicket win with 13 overs remaining.
