COMPETITION is hotting up to see which company will be named the brains of the town at the Swindon Cares quiz.

The quiz is being held at 7.30pm on Tuesday, July 13 in the winners lounge at Swindon Town Football Club.

So far 12 teams have dared to throw their hats into the ring including representatives from HSBC, Arkell's, Vox PR, Nationwide, Zurich, Great Western Enterprise, Workbase Resource and the Evening Advertiser and more are wanted.

Organisers are hoping to attract more than 30 teams to make sure the £1,000 target is raised but there will be room for about 60 teams at most.

Swindon Cares committee member Pam Webb, of Zurich, said: "I think the main thing is that it's going to be a fun evening and an excellent way of raising funds for the appeal.

"We're aiming for about 30 teams but we can fit more in we just need to know in advance to sort out the logistics."

Teams can be up to six people, who have to be over 16. There will be 10 question rounds, of which two will be visual and music.

The £30 team fee will go entirely to the Swindon Cares 2004 appeal, and teams should book their place by Friday.
