HIGHWORTH'S annual junior six-a-side tournament proved another hit at the weekend.
A total of 184 teams took part in the event, with teams representing all corners of Wiltshire, plus others from Bristol, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire.
Swindon club Shaw carried off the under 11 and under 12 honours, defeating Bourton Rovers and Old Town B in their respective finals.
Greenmeadow took the under nine title, defeating Quarry Rovers on penalties after a 1-1 draw in their final.
Trowbridge under 14s also edged out Westbrook 3-2 on penalties, after they had finished 0-0, but the longest final went the way of Highworth Colts.
The under 13 team drew 1-1 with St Edmunds before going to penalties and some while later they emerged winners, by 16 goals to 15.
The under trophy went to another Wiltshire side, Croft A, who defeated Fairford 2-1 in another close-fought final.
The match was played on a group format, with the top two teams going through to quarter-finals.
Under seven and under eight matches were also held over the weekend, with Swindon Soccer Skills, Swindon Badgers, Croft and Greenmeadow collecting the younger sportsmanship awards and Croft A and B, Highworth Juniors A and Wootton Bassett A the under eight sportsmanship awards.
Highworth's junior football club are hoping to raise more than £5,000, which will help to pay off the costs of their new pavilion at their recreation ground home.
