TENNIS fans distraught at seeing Tim Henman fail at Wimbledon again are being encouraged to have a go themselves.
The All England Lawn Tennis championships have finished for another year but Swindon's Delta Tennis Centre is hoping fans have been captivated by the sport.
The centre, in Delta Business Park, off Great Western Way, is opening its doors for free on Sunday to give everyone, especially beginners, a chance to practise their serves and volleys.
The day is open to players of all ages and abilities and children are particularly welcome.
The centre's open day is one of hundreds at tennis venues around the country. The aim is to encourage people to take up the sport.
The Lawn Tennis Association anticipates more than 60,000 people will join in, making it the UK's biggest sporting participation event.
Gail Light, the tennis manager for Swindon Services, said: "We hope that the day will attract kids and adults to try their hand at tennis and become long-term players of the game.
"We hope to show that the Delta Tennis Club is a welcoming and friendly place to start playing this fun and fantastic game."
The day starts at 10am. Sessions include under fives pre-tennis, mini tennis, beat the coach, fastest serve
targets, tennis for adult beginners and tennis for teenagers.
