COUCH potato Swindonians are being urged to back an annual fitness drive. Swindon Council's Get Active Day will be held on September 15.
And it could be just the ticket to kick-start a new lifestyle, say organisers.
People are being encouraged to do at least 15 minutes of exercise.
Leisure centres already have a range of free activities lined up. In addition many businesses across the town are planning their own special events aimed both at members of the public and their own staff.
Schools are also to get in on the act, with fun sessions pencilled in before registration and during lunchtimes.
The council says the event would be an ideal opportunity for sports groups to drum up interest in their chosen activities.
It hopes the day will encourage people to re-examine their lifestyles and take a close look at their health.
Anyone wanting further information about the aims of the day, as well as details of how to take part, is invited to contact the team of organisers on 01793 511033.
