In answer to the letter on August 2, headlined "elderly drivers should be taken off the road."

As I learned to drive in an army lorry in May 1944 I suppose I should be concerned by Miss Blake's rant.

She obviously wants me to suffer, as well as a lot of other elderly drivers.

I would wish to point out in my defence that I have knight of the road badges, blood donor's badges and I have seen some very bad examples of driving in my time by all ages of driver, but I would not dream of going to the press and condemning all elderly drivers for the mistake of one.

I think a sorry would be nice.

You will be elderly yourself one day and probably on the road still.
