SEAN Maxwell and Mark Coxon-Tenty helped Warminster cruise to a 27 run win at Goatacre on Saturday and keep their title hopes alive.
The duo shared a 128 run third wicket partnership to set up a comfortable victory and move them to within a point of the top two teams in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire League Division One.
This was their fifth consecutive win and with a game at home to league leaders Stroud tomorrow, captain Coxon-Tenty believes his side are finding form at exactly the right time.
He said: "The last few games we have been excellent and now are in a good position to challenge for the league title and promotion.
"The match against Stroud is a huge match, but we should go into it full of confidence after the tremendous last month."
After losing the toss and being put into bat, Warminster got off to a poor start as Trevor Fabian was dismissed off the fourth ball of the first over for a duck.
Dave Bateman and Maxwell then made light of the disappointing start as they added 43 for the second wicket before Bateman was caught for 26, after hitting six fours.
Coxon-Tenty joined Maxwell in the middle and the pair frustrated Goatacre's bowling attack with some solid batting.
By the time Maxwell was caught for 82, Warminster had reached 171 and, despite the loss of Coxon-Tenty for 64 in the next over, they were well on the way to setting a good total.
Richie Underdown added 21 as Warminster finished their 50 overs on 227-9.
In reply, Goatacre started well and at 109-3 looked as though they might reach their target.
But the fall of the next six wickets for just 91 runs left the hosts on 200-9, with Coxon-Tenty taking four wickets for 30 runs.
