WESTINGHOUSE picked up useful points in Division One as they scored 236-7 at home to Bath Civil Service.

John Peters, who made an unbeaten 140 in last week's defeat by Great Bedwyn, scored 135 and John Cleverley added 53 not out as they carried on from last week's run spree as John Fair took 4-72.

As the Civil Service chased the target down their must have been a feeling of 'de ja vu' for Westinghouse as Fair made 93 and Dave Smith 38, but this time Westinghouse triumphed as John Cleverley took 5-43 and the visitors were bowled out for 209, with four overs remaining.

Great Bedwyn stay second after a 48 run victory at Purton.

Calne consolidated their third spot with a seven wicket victory over lowly Nationwide House.

Nationwide scored 183-7 with Tim Sherwood making 43 and Mike Vincent 37 and Chris Downham taking 4-42.

Downham's 30, added to 67 from Liann Botes and 48 from Steve Richards then saw Calne home with 11 balls to spare.

Potterne visited Collingbourne and scored 199-9, with Mike Saunders (42) top scoring. Collingbourne were 2-2 but then Ghyas Khan (106 not out) and Graham Chandler (72 not out) knocked the runs off in just 30 overs for an eight wicket win.

Bottom of the table Box picked up a seven run win to inflict a first defeat of the season on Marshfield.

Box set a target of 205 for three, the main contribution coming from a third wicket century partnership between Tony Trotman (68) and Malcolm Bond (64 not out). Trotman's innings included three sixes and it was Bond's first league fifty.

After losing an early wicket, Marshfield built a good platform between Dan Watson (37) and James Williams (43). Tight bowling then put the visitors in the box seat, with John Tooth taking 2 for 50, Neil Pettit 4 for 72 and Hayward 3 for 54.

With the run rate rising, Matt Watson (43) almost pulled off an unlikely victory for the home side, but fell to a return catch to Pettit.

LEADERS Biddestone 3rds had to work hard at Highworth 2nds before gaining a narrow two wicket win.

Highworth made 132-6 as George Harper took 3-43 in 15 overs and Paul Tasker 2-13 in 14.

Equally tight bowling from Highworth made sure Biddestone had to battle for their runs but thanks to Kevin Mitchell (33 not out) and Daryll Smith (29) they finally won with eight balls left.

Devizes 4ths picked up maximum points at struggling All Cannings 2nds. Devizes scored 208-7, with Paul Ashman (40) and Paul Stevens (52) top scoring and Garry Perrett taking 3-62 in 15 overs. Mike Lever, 3-1, then shot All Cannings out for 70.

Warminster 4ths scored 188 all out at home to United Churches 2nds, with Tim Robinson (36) top scoring. Churches went on to win by three wickets as Robinson took 3-57.

THE meeting of the top two at Cooper-Avon Tyres saw the home side's 2ndXI gain a narrow one wicket win over leaders Trowbridge A.

Trowbridge made 155-4 with Neil Gliddon making 36 and Paul Riddiford 36. Dirk Kemp took 6-51 in 15 overs but Alan Johnson (32) and Paul Hunt (36 not out) saw Cooper-Avon home in the 39th over.

Cherhill 2nds stay fourth following their win at Bath Civil Service 2nds. Cherhill scored 180-7 thanks mainly to a fine unbeaten 101 from Dave Hewins, and 27 from Garry Hallett.

Malcolm Parrack took 4-46 from 12 overs as the home side were bowled out for 168, Ravi Kamat (27) top scoring.

Beanacre 2nds caused a surprise with an 11 run home success against Corsham 4ths. Trevor Braine (30) top scored in the Beanacre innings of 164 as John Wales took 4-27 in 10 overs. Tony Shardlow (32) helped Corsham to 153-7 as Braine picked up 3-40.

Marshfield 3rds entertained Dauntsey Gentlemen 2nds and watched them score 222-5, thanks largely to Garry Mitchell (67) and Geoff Bennicoat (75), while Eddy Brooks took 3-48 in eight overs.

Thanks to Nick Paling (79), Geoff Hall (39 not out) and John Clegg (32) Marshfield needed five runs from the last ball, and thanks to Simon Bishop hammering a six, they emerged three wicket winners.

Potterne 2nds remain rooted at the foot of the table after losing at home to Collingbourne 2nds, whose bonus points helped them to the top of the table. Collingbourne scored 217-8 with Jim Sadler taking 2-57 and Ally Bridewell 3-68. Bridewell (51), Tony Stanfield (40) and Ed Fruen (24) then made the bulk of Potterne's response of 156 all out.
