AFTER firing in 36 goals for Bradford Town last season, no one can accuse Tom Pang of forgetting his shooting boots his only problem is choosing which pair to wear.
The prolific young striker has spent over £600 in the last four years on football boots and now has a collection of 13 pairs to choose from.
He says during the course of the season every pair will be used and has not ruled out buying more if he spots some he likes.
Pang, 20, became hot property last campaign, his first season in senior football, after topping the goal scoring charts in the Wiltshire League.
His goal scoring feats have attracted attention from Isthmian Premier League side Salisbury City, and Screwfix Premier League side Melksham Town, and the youngster attributes some of his success to his choice of boots.
He said: "I find it is worthwhile having so many different boots because obviously some boots suit certain conditions more than others.
"Normally I bring two pairs of boots with studs and two moulded pairs to a game so I can decide what to wear after checking the pitch.
"I prefer wearing moulds but obviously when the ground is wet you sometimes can't. I also change my boots at half-time if I feel I have made the wrong choice."
The colour of the boots varies including a red pair, a white pair and a blue pair, and Pang admits the decision on which to wear does sometimes depend on what he will look like.
"I have to make sure they are colour co-ordinated," he said. "Obviously this is not the biggest factor but it does sometimes make a difference.
"My favourite boots are my white Nike Vapours but I wouldn't say they are my lucky ones. As far as I am concerned they are all lucky.
"I know it probably is a bit over the top having 13 pairs of boots but it is important to keep changing them because it prevents athletes foot."
His latest pair were £80 pale blue Mizunos he bought in Bath on Friday and he admits he will probably get another pair soon.
He said: "They were a bargain as they were reduced by £40. If I another bargain or a pair I like I will probably get them. It has cost me a fortune though."
