WESTBURY United striker Toby Colbourne is urging his team-mates to keep their feet on their ground and to learn from last season's slump in form.
Colbourne bagged a brace in his side's 3-1 win over Wiltshire League side Bradford Town on Saturday and then said it was time to return to basics.
Westbury looked as though they were going to challenge for the First Division title last campaign until a disastrous run of form saw them lose 11 of their last 14 matches to finish in mid-table.
Colbourne, who missed the end of the campaign with a broken ankle, is confident there would be no repeat this time round.
He said: "The attitude has been different in training this time. Everyone is determined to make up for what happened and we just have to keep our feet on the ground.
"Last season we were saying what we thought we could do, me being as guilty as anyone, but I think it is time to let our football do the talking.
"We are going to return to basics and just take each game as it comes. It is important to start well and then we can go from there."
Colbourne's ankle injury forced him to miss the last two and a half months of the 2003/04 season but he still managed a total of 29 goals and has targeted the 30 mark this season.
He said: "Saturday was my first game back for a long time and it was a big boost to score two goals.
"I have just missed out on scoring 30 goals in the last two seasons but hopefully I can get there this time.
"I have had some offers from clubs in the summer, including a tempting one in Bristol, but I am happy at Westbury and looking forward to a good season."
Westbury's other goal scorer in Saturdays win was Matt Windsor after Lee Burns' header had crashed against the bar while Tom Pang scored Bradford's consolation.
On Monday a spectacular 25-yard free kick from Lee Burns put Westbury on their way to a 2-1 win at home to Bemerton Heath Harlequins.
Bemerton's Simon Nelson equalised early in the second half but 16-year-old Rob Taylor struck the winner five minutes from time.
