THERE were some good weights in the inter-club match between Avon and King Billy fished on the Avon at Lacock on Sunday.
Avon took team honours with 48lb 4oz to King Billy's 37lb 7oz.
Individual honours went to Melksham's Robin Guy, of Avon, with an all-roach catch weighing 12lb 3oz, taken on pole-fished hemp on an 18 hook.
Other Avon placings: 4 Andy Pratten, 8lb 13oz; 5 Stuart White, 8lb 12oz 8dm; 6 Vic Abbott, 8lb 4oz.
Competitors in the inter-club match between Devizes and Lavington fished at Crookwood Lake on Sunday enjoyed excellent sport.
With the top nine weights counting for each team, Devizes won with 176lb to Lavington's 135lb.
Individual honours went to Tony Gilbert, of Devizes, with a mixed catch of small carp, goldfish and tench weighing 44lb 4oz, taken alternating with pole fished casters and luncheon meat.
Ray King, of Lavington, was second with a mixed catch of carp, tench and goldfish weighing 33lb 3oz, taken alternating with pole-fished red maggots and casters.
Kevin Bamford, of Devizes, was third with a carp, tench, bream and goldfish catch weighing 26lb 2oz, taken on pole-fished sweet corn and casters.
Other placings: 4 Terry York, Lavington, 25lb 12oz; 5 Gary White, Devizes, 24lb 2oz; 6 Mick Olden, Devizes, 23lb 6oz.
The Wilts Angling open match at Rood Ashton on Wednesday produced a close finish.
Pete Neate, of Holt, won with an all-carp catch weighing 44lb 4oz, taken on pole-fished pellets on a 14 hook. Gary Dallimore, of Frome, was second with another carp catch weighing 43lb 15oz, taken on pole-fished cat meat on a 12 hook. Similar tactics gave third prize to Tony Mumford, of Trowbridge, with a carp catch weighing 35lb 12oz.
Other placings: 4 Mike Withey, Westbury, 33lb 6oz; 5 Dave Bancroft, Trowbridge, 27lb 1oz; 6 Martin Barrett, Trowbridge, 24lb 12oz.
There were reasonable catches in the Wilts Angling open fished at Blue Circle Lake on Thursday.
Ian Stainer, from Bradford, won with a mixed catch of carp and bream weighing 33lb 15oz, taken on pole-fished cat meat on a 12 hook. Runner-up was Fred Eagles, of Trowbridge, with an all-carp catch weighing 31lb 8oz, taken on pole-fished cat meat on a 12 hook.
He was followed by Chris Haines, of Frome, with an all-bream catch weighing 29lb 6oz, taken on pole-fished chopped worm on an 18 hook.
Carp and bream made up the weights in the Wilts Angling open match fished a Todber Manor on Sunday.
Nick Johns, of Trowbridge, won with an all-carp catch weighing 64lb 2oz, taken on waggler fished sweet corn on a 14 hook.
Steve Sibley, of Melksham, was third with a mixed catch of carp and bream weighing 52lb 10oz, taken on pole-fished sweet corn on a 14 hook.
Other placings: 4 Fred Eagles, Trowbridge, 51lb 5oz; 5 Pete Neate, Holt, 46lb 2oz; 6 Dean Adams, Bradford, 43lb 12oz.
