Ref. 71708-35A BLAZE at an industrial estate near Cricklade could have caused explosions after fire broke out in a kerosene tank.
Cylinders of propane, LPG and oxygen at BH Austin caught fire, as well as tyres, waste and a large amount of agricultural diesel .
But firefighters from Cricklade and Stratton were at the scene at Chelworth Industrial Estate in minutes and worked to control the fire for three hours. Further help was needed from crews from Swindon and Westlea.
The fire started at 1.45pm yesterday and crews were at the scene until early evening.
Two water jets and two foam jets were used.
The Environment Agency was also called to check foam had not entered water nearby.
The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental and no on was injured in the incident. No one from BH Austin was available for comment as the Advertiser went to press.
