THERE was a disappointing turnout for the launch of a new monthly five-a-side soccer tournament in Pewsey on Sunday.
Spokesman Tim Mason said after the start of the football season a good turnout had been expected at Pewsey Sports Centre.
But on the day only two teams turned up. Mr Mason said: "Not to be disheartened, these two teams played four 15-minute sessions under the watchful eye of an official FA referee to decide the first winners of the monthly shield.
"Both teams did extremely well despite the heat and a few cloudy heads post-Saturday night and after an hour of competitive football the first Pewsey Sports Centre five-a-side champions were crowned."
The winners, the Key's Crusaders, won the monthly shield and free entry to next month's tournament.
Anyone wishing to enter a team for the next tournament on Sunday September 5 (10am kick-off) should contact (01672) 562469. The cost is £20 a team and registration has to be before September 3.
