NORTH WILTS JUNIOR LEAGUE: U13 - MARTIN Sawyer's fine 79 not out provided the cornerstone to Biddestone's 207 for 6 declared in 33.4 overs.
He was ably supported by Michael Flynn (16), Natt Jansen (16), Tim Knight (22) and Josh Boulton (17). Ashley Baden for Swindon took 3 for 41 in 7 overs. In reply Swindon started well with Steve Laggett (50) and Jonathan Sore (22) providing an opening partnership of 106 in 20 overs.
However, with three wickets falling in six balls the run rate was severely dented.
Glenn Baden (21) ensured there were no further alarms and Swindon closed on 146 for 5 to achieve a losing draw.
Matt Hayes (2-9) and Martin Sawyer (2-18) were the leading Biddestone bowlers (Swindon 10 points, Biddestone 13 points).
Tom Coates (15) and Sam Wells (31) shared an opening partnership of 60 for Wootton Bassett in their match at Calne before their partnership was broken by a sharp run out from Matt Smart.
The Calne bowlers then took command and the next four wickets fell in quick succession to leave Bassett tottering at 65 for 5.
A hard hitting 82 from Tom Davies well supported by Alex Brown (21) brought about a splendid recovery and enabled Bassett to post a formidable 218 for 7 declared off 37 overs. Luke Edwards bowled well for Calne taking 3 for 20 off his 7 overs and Ben Kenway took 2-32. In reply, Calne lost an early wicket before Edwards (71) joined Josh Simpkins (25) in a partnership that took the home side well on their way to their target.
However, after being 110-1 Calne lost both batsmen in quick succession and then the next four batsmen were dismissed without scoring as Davies (3-28) and Sam Packer (3-17) led the Bassett fightback.
Ben Kenway (18 not out) provided stubborn resistance and helped Calne secure the draw as they finished on 143-8 (Calne 9 points, Wootton Bassett 15 points).
