Hampshire League Regional Division One South

BURLEY'S season reached its lowest ebb when they travelled to Waterlooville seconds and were trounced by 168 runs on a scorching afternoon at Rowlands Avenue.

The home side's 240-4 was built around a third wicket stand of 91 between opener Matt Slater, 105 not out, and Darren Langrish, 54.

Although they fielded eleven players, due to domestic problems, only nine Burley men were available to bat.

Wayne Tucker, 17, and John Gemmell, 15, were the top scorers as they were skittled out for just 72 with Peter Spink claiming 4-10.

But there were no such frustrations for Burley seconds, who beat Milford-on-Sea by seven wickets in their Regional Division Two South West clash .

Despite wickets falling to Terry Pateman, 6-51, Milford managed 236 before they were all out with Hugh Roberts, 56, Bill Lewis, 37, and Stuart Slade, 31, the main scorers.

Martin Rapson, 86, led the Burley reply.

After he was out, Les Browning, 97 not out, and Pateman, 27 not out, ensured Burley's emphatic victory with six overs to spare.

With only Les Withey, 36, able to master Ken Henderson, 6-26, Fawley III were removed for 115 in 35 overs.

Ellingham Seconds' openers Jason Thake, 59 not out, and Guy Andrew, 47 not out, swept them to a resounding ten wicket win in just 17 overs.

Mark Hooper, 38, was the top scorer and 29 extras boosted the total as Bransgore were bowled out for 142 in the 42nd over.

Langley Manor Seconds were made to work hard for their victory as wickets fell to Rob Chandler, 5-48, but, with Roy Rhodes making 47, they won by two wickets in the 33rd over.
