PEWSEY manager Steve Wootton is still looking to delve into the transfer market as the pre-season closes.
Wootton does have younger players on trial at the club but is still not too sure on them, and is still looking to strengthen.
They will be without their prolific goal scorer Barry Flippance who is dropping down to the reserves. Wootton said: "If the youngsters are struggling and we are not doing very well then I'm sure I can persuade Barry to play a few home games."
Richard Person is suspended and will not feature for Pewsey until late September, and Matthew Churchward, the team captain, is getting married and will also not return until September.
Matthew Messenger has returned to training after a serious arm injury but Wootton is worried that his young team might not be ready for the Hellenic league. He said: "The older players can't keep going. It's just a shame that you lose three at once.
"Youth is the way forward and the lads can only get better.
"But they will stay together and they will take time. Hopefully they will be able to gel."
