Pewsey Vale were heavily beaten by Wessex Division Two side Lymington Town at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.

Manager Steve Wootton was not impressed with his side who wenta goal behind after just three minutes.

It was no looking back from there as Lymington started dismantling Pewsey.

The Hellenic Premier side never looked like scoring and Wootton agreed that they were outmatched. He said: "They were the better side. They dominated and scored early on in the game."

For Lymington Paul Sims scored two, Kevin James slotted one and ex-Southampton school boy Danny Deal netted a double.

Wootton was not too pleased. He said: "They were more skillful than us. Fortunately we still have two or three pre-season games on which to improve. The lads did work hard in the game. But the other side were just more superior."

One of his team did shine though. He said: "Our keeper did really well and made some excellent saves. We played admirably."

Wootton hoped to have a full strength side out for the next pre-season friendly which was played last night against Shrewton Town.

They then have one more game against Malmesbury Town at the Recreation ground on Tuesday. This is all before their first Hellenic league game against Bicester on August 21 at home.

At the same time the reserve teams also played each other.

This was a much closer game that ended in a one all draw. Barry Flippance who has just started playing for the reserves opened the scoring before half time. Stuart Sims equalised with a second half penalty.
