GAZETTE & HERALD: A motorist accused of dangerous driving has been cleared after a court heard he could have fainted because of the heat in his car.
Peter Weston was accused of driving a B-reg Vauxhall Corsa dangerously on Marshfield Road, Chippenham, on July 16 last year.
But after the 48-year-old's legal team produced medical reports from a cardiologist, the case against him was dropped.
David Chidgey, prosecuting, told a judge at Swindon crown court that the Crown would offer no evidence in the matter.
He said a report from the defence showed that the heat inside the car could have caused Weston to faint and a report by their own specialist could not exclude the theory.
Judge John McNaught formally passed a not guilty verdict and ruled that Weston, of Wellington Farm Cottage, Priddy, Wells, Somerset, should have his costs paid.
