GAZETTE & HERALD: Green-minded recycling enthusiasts are needed to help put together a new Rethink Rubbish directory for the Chippenham area.

The Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is looking for people with local knowledge to help them create a comprehensive guide into re-thinking, re-using and recycling waste materials in a bid to cut back on landfill and save valuable resources.

The innovative directories will be A-Z guides for individuals and households on what to do with their rubbish ranging from aerosols and aluminium cans to Yellow Pages, yoghurt pots and zips.

They will also include advice on where to buy recycled goods and provide tips on reducing rubbish.

The trust's Kate Robinson is calling individuals and organisations to come forward with information to be included in the directories.

She said: "Do you collect goods for charities or carrier bags for re-use? Or are you a shop that takes returned packing?

"Do you belong to a group running a newspaper collection? Or to an organisation or business that collects seemingly worthless goods, which are re-used or recycled?

"Possibly your school or playgroup collects paper or mobile phones or toner cartridges? If so, I want to hear from you. Your rubbish can be put to good use."

Ms Robinson is also seeking volunteers aged over 18 years with a few hours to spare to help put the directories together.

They will be distributed in November to libraries and leisure centres, among other outlets.

The information will list contact details for shops, charities, organisations and individuals, together with the items they will take for re-use or recycling.

The directories are being financed by the National Lottery-funded Community Recycling and Economic Development (CRED) Programme and Wiltshire County Council.

The trust has already produced Rethink Rubbish directories for the Salisbury, Corsham and Westbury community areas.

"We've had such a tremendous response to these directories because they give people the information they need to reduce the amount of rubbish that we are burying in beautiful Wiltshire," Ms Robinson said.
