WINSLEY crashed to a six-wicket defeat at Portishead on Saturday despite the best efforts of their Indian all rounder Kunal More.

More, who has been enjoying a prolific season with the bat, scored more than half his side's runs, finishing on 94 not out as Winsley were bowled out for 161.

After 15 overs, Portishead had been contained to 80-4 but that was as near to victory as Winsley got, with the home side racing to their target without further loss.

Winsley went into the match without four of their top batsmen, Ted O'Leary, Richard Witts, Charlie Holton and Robbie Cross, and captain John Spencer admits this was a big blow.

He said: "It was not a very good performance and while there are no excuses, we were always going to struggle without those four.

"With Kunal we would have been really struggling but at least he helped us post a respectable score.

"At 161 we always had a chance but obviously we were looking to get a few more runs than that."

Winsley were also understrength in the bowling department with Robbie Cross unavailable and Spencer unable to bowl because of an injury.

Spencer said: "At 80-4 we had a chance and it was anyone's game with 25 overs gone. But in the end it proved too much for us. Their South African, Brian Voukes, was the big difference as he scored 94 and also took three vital wickets."
