A TEAM of five Warminster Hospital workers are bracing themselves for the rigours of an SAS survival weekend.
The health and social care staff are heading to Cumbria next month for a two-day challenge that will raise funds for the brain injury charity Headway.
Mary Hodgson, Elaine Allen, Marguerite Mussell, Fiona Martin and Trudie Stanley will complete day one with a night exercise. Day two will see them experience combat medical techniques and extracting casualties from a war zone while evading an enemy.
Mrs Hodgson has a particular incentive for the challenge as her husband Mark suffered a severe brain injury when he was hit by a car.
She said: "Headway was so very supportive and made a big difference to both Mark and myself during very difficult times and is continuing to support us now."
To prepare for the challenge from September 10 to 12, the team has been getting tips from Army fitness instructors at the Warminster garrison.
To sponsor the team, send a cheque, payable to Northern Events (SF), to Mary Hodgson at Warminster Hospital.
