A POSTMASTER is conducting his own search for witnesses after an attempted break-in at his post office.
Bill Sherman, postmaster at Trowbridge Road Post Office, Bradford on Avon, said the intruders tried to break in during the early hours of the morning on Tuesday, August 3.
He said: "As a result of the attempted burglary I have been going around banging on doors. We have already got witness reports of one or two people dressed in dark clothing running away."
The attempted break-in happened while thunderstorms were raging outside.
Mr Sherman said: "I decided to search for witnesses when I realised the amount of people that must have been awake watching the storm. I'm sure there were lots of people looking out of their windows."
He is appealing to residents in the Moulton Drive, Southway Road or Poulton areas of the town who saw anybody suspicious between 3.30am and 5am to contact police.
