A GANG of professional thieves could be responsible for a string of car break-ins across Trowbridge.
Stereo equipment, CD players and a handbag were stolen from seven cars at the weekend and police believe the offences could be linked.
Scene of crime officers were alerted to the string of thefts when the crimes came to light on Monday.
A CD player was stolen from a Citroen Saxo in Quilling Close while two cars in Langford Close, a Ford Fiesta and Renault Megane, were both looted.
A Rover 214 in Park Road was targeted, with thieves taking a motocross helmet, tool belt and stereo, while a Seat Ibiza and VW Golf were broken into in Newtown.
A handbag was also taken from a Nissan Micra in Westbourne Road.
Police believe there are more crimes still to be reported.
Sgt Steve Jones said: "All the crimes happened sometime over the weekend and were reported Monday morning. Some of the cars belong to owners on holiday so there could be more to be reported.
"It is a bit of a spate but the offences are right across the town so whether it is a team of thieves or a couple of individuals we don't know yet."
