BUSINESSES are being urged to approach ASDA in Swindon with local produce they think shoppers would like to see on the shelves.
The store has launched an appeal for local delicacies and food reared or grown in the area.
Those thought most likely to be snapped up by customers will find a place among the other products.
General store manager Steve Lehan said: "Stocking products made by local people for local people is part of our continued commitment to supporting our community. If someone has a local product that people just can't get enough of, then we would love to hear from them."
The supermarket's local sourcing scheme began two years ago and has brought in 240 local suppliers around the country.
Products put forward for consideration have to meet four basic criteria.
They should have a barcode and be produced to at least minimum technical and food safety standards. There needs to evidence of local demand and the supplier must have a fax machine to receive orders.
Producers can contact Mr Lehan at the store on 01793 707770 and more information is available on the website at www.asda.co.uk.
