Swindon Supermarine came from behind to stun Bedworth and begin the Division One West season with a thrilling 3-2 away win.

Three second half goals from Steve Jenkins, Chris Copp and Alan Young made up for a below-par first-half performance which saw the hosts dominate.

Bedworth striker Matt Coppin saw a thunderous header smartly stopped by Marine keeper Tom King. Coppin's strike partner Paul Spacey then headed against an upright.

Mark Collier's side eventually found their feet and should have snatched a half-time lead.

Dave Toomey's persistence set up a golden opportunity for captain Giles Harris to put his side in front, but the midfielder snatched at the cross and the ball was parried by Bedworth custodian Shaun Hayes.

All five goals arrived in the second half and it was Bedworth who took the lead on 51 minutes.

Coppin finally got the goal he deserved after getting up well to meet Andy Dodd's cross with a well placed header.

The lead was short lived as Marine equalised in emphatic fashion five minutes later.

Steve Bennett's teasing cross was met superbly by fellow defender Steve Jenkins, who planted a powerful header past a stranded Hayes.

Spacey quickly restored the home advantage with a cute lob from 25 yards but Collier's men roared back again.

Summer signing Luke Jones replaced fellow new boy James Hambridge on the hour mark and had an immediate impact, losing his marker and supplying a fine cross that was duly met by Chris Copp.

Then with three minutes to go, Toomey's run and cross picked out Alan Young and the former Swindon Town forward guided the ball past Hayes to secure maximum points.

Marine boss Collier said: "Bedworth came at us like the alamo first half and they battered us. But we got them in at half-time, changed things round a bit and the second half was much better.

"As their manager Mark Hallam said afterwards 'any team that comes from behind twice has something about them'."
