FOUR teenagers from the Swindon area have begun their training as part of an apprenticeship programme with Southern Electric Contracting.
Kevin Foxworthy, Stefan Janicki, Daniel Phoenix-Stone and Luca Wrona are among a lucky 78 youngsters selected after the company received a record number of applications.
Following an induction course at Swindon's Holiday Inn hotel earlier this month, they have now begun a training programme which focuses heavily on all aspects of safety.
After the course they will start work either in Faraday Road, Dorcan or in Melksham.
Norma Green, training and development manager, said: "I am in absolutely no doubt about the value of training apprentices. As long as companies choose the right people from the outset, they will be rewarded with a high percentage of well trained, committed and loyal staff."
