STEAM is to be taken back 60 years in time for the benefit of school children.
We'll Meet Again was originally planned as a two-week event from October 4 to 15 at Swindon's museum of the GWR, offering an insight into life during World War Two.
But it was booked up so rapidly by schools that it is now also planned to run on the last three days of September and on October 18 and 19.
Pupils will take part in three workshops, based around air raids, the role of women at home and work during the war years, and evacuation.
The workshops will involve role-playing, aided by authentic artefacts from the 1940s. Pupils will also meet people who lived and worked during the war. Steam's education officer, Helen Orford, said: "Educational visits to Steam continue to be popular.
"Through our Discovery programmes children gain marvellous insights into many aspects of history and the feedback we get from pupils and their teachers is extremely positive."
Bookings are already being taken for next year's We'll Meet Again programme, and can be arranged by calling 01793 466637.
