AS someone who used to work at Bath's Royal United Hospital I am mystified by the argument from Bath University that it needs the new Swindon campus to be next to GWH, in order to provide medical research and teaching.
In Bath the university is located as far away as it is possible to be in the city from the RUH.
As far as I know, Bath University has never said the distance of its main campus in Claverton from the research unit at the RUH in Weston has caused any difficulty.
Indeed, it boasts of the excellence of the arrangement.
How it would help the tiny minority of students actually working at the GWH to be physically near to the halls of residence of the students studying English literature defeats me.
It seems to me that someone at Bath University is trying to pull the wool over our eyes.
