CHIPPENHAM face Southern League Premier new boys Rugby United at home on Saturday and follow it up with a visit to Team Bath on Monday night.
Rugby finished fifth in the Southern League Western division last year on a respectable 71 points. They had an impressive start to their Premier division campaign, holding promotion favourites Tiverton Town 1-1. Despite having five key players injured for that game they still managed to come back from a goal behind. On Tuesday they beat Grantham Town 1-0.
Their player to watch is Justin Marsden. Marsden, 20, who has broken through from the youth team. He made his full debut at the age of just 16 against Cinderford Town. He scored on his home debut against Stourport Swifts in 2002 and has been a first team regular since. Over the past two seasons he has scored 21 goals.
Chippenham will have to get past ex-Torquay and West Brom player Craig Herbert, 28 in their back line. Injured Rugby player Neil Melvin has described him as a rock in defence.
They will be without at least three players on Saturday. Keeper Jason Pearsy has a knee injury and midfielders Danny Hall and Neil Melvin are long-term injuries. Centre-half Andy Rutherford may recover from an ankle injury in time.
Monday's trip to Team Bath could bring the Bluebirds face to face with Caleb Kamara-Taylor, who turned down a move to Hardenhuish Park in the summer.
