STRIKER James Constable has grabbed three goals in two games but he still thinks he can do better.

The 19-year-old, whose wages are being paid by the Gazette this season, was angry with himself after the Dunstable game on Saturday for being caught offside too often.

He said: "I did score but I am very disappointed with myself. I got caught too many times.

He said: "I have to be better at offsides. It is something I will work at in training. I have to dig in more."

On Tuesday against Solihull he looked a different player and bagged two goals. He said: "I'm impressed with my game tonight. I made a few mistakes but was better. I'm happy with how I'm playing now and I have three goals already."

"I had a word with Chalky and my dad at the weekend and that seemed to help. My dad told me to go away and have a think about it on my own."

"The problem was that I was too quick. There defence was a little slow and I was right up against the Dunstable back line. I have no problems with my pace. I was just getting behind the last man too quickly.

"Steve told me to take a step back and time my runs better and it worked. I just need to give myself a yard or two, which I did tonight. I have to stop being tight on the last man. I will work at it in training but the advice worked and I only got caught offside once in the game."

White was pleased with the improvement. He said: "James was pressing on in the second half against Dunstable and to be fair we was off side most of the time. He doesn't need to be because of his pace. He needs to be bending his runs.

"As a striker myself I try to help them with their understanding on where to run. It's up to the rest of the team to deliver the ball. It's all about cross over movement to avoid the offside trap. James did better against Solihull and got both the goals."

Constable limped off midway through the first half suffering from a dead leg but is confident he will be available for Saturday's was feeling a lot more confident after the game at Chippenham despite being substituted through the second half.

Constable picked up a dead leg and was hobbling a bit but will be fine for Chippenham's next game against Rugby United on Saturday.

He said: "It was good tonight. I hope to bag 25 or 30 goals this season, if I can stay onside that is. Let's hope I can carry tonight's performance through to Saturday."
