RINGWOOD Town got their season off to a flying start with Carl Fleet's last-gasp goal sec-uring a 3-2 win over Hythe & Dibden, writes Ryan Lovejoy.
The visitors went ahead through Dean Chapman but John Dilling equalised with his first goal for four years.
First team debutant James Finlay nodded Town into the lead on 55 minutes, then Andy Lonsdale looked to have rescued a point for Hythe in the 86th minute.
But there was one final twist as Fleet's header went in off the post to clinch the match.
Reserve team manager Dave Atley said: "It was a good start for us and it's important to get three points in the bag quickly. We had a new look side with the emphasis on young players.
"In addition to James Finlay, Rob Wakelin and Clint Chapels were also making full first team debuts."
Ringwood are at their Long Lane base again on Saturday, taking on newly promoted Alresford Town who finished eighth in Hampshire Division One but were promoted because their ground met the criteria.
"They are obviously a well-run outfit because their facilities are in order, and we will always treat any opponent with respect," said Atley.
