A TALK given by Mrs Doubtfire author Anne Fine in Swindon was today due for broadcast on Radio 4.
A BBC recording crew came to the Arts Centre in Devizes Road on May 13 to record the talk given by the author as part of the Swindon Festival of Literature. It was due to be broadcast at 11.30am today as part of the With Great Pleasure series.
Fine is a long-time bestselling children's author, but is still best known for Mrs Doubtfire, the book which was made into a film starring Robin Williams. Her talk at the festival however, was concerned largely with her poetry, and the sellout audience treated her to a long ovation.
Festival director Matt Holland said of today's broadcast: "It's wonderful. I have heard broadcasts of events from other festivals, such as the one at Hay on Wye, but this is a sign of the growing recognition given to ours.
"The BBC came, they liked what they found, and they want to come back next year."
