THREE members of the congregation at St James' Church in Devizes are to undergo training to become Anglican priests.
Gaynor Burrett, Steve Ibbetson and Linda Duckers have been recommended for training, and Mrs Burrett will shortly be leaving St James for full-time training at St John's College, Nottingham, and should be ordained in June 2006.
Mrs Burrett is currently working for the Bible Society in Swindon. There will be a bring and share barbecue in Hillworth Park on August 21, to bid her farewell.
Steve Ibbetson, Kennet District Council's engineering and design manager, will undertake a part-time course which will, it is hoped, lead to his being ordained in June 2007.
Linda Duckers left St James a number of years ago to train as an officer in the Church Army, and has been working in Birmingham as a hospital chaplain.
There will be a commissioning service at the church at 9.30am on Sunday September 5 to celebrate the start of the trio's training.
