A TWO-DAY police clampdown on west Wiltshire's most dangerous roads saw 93 drivers clock up criminal offences.
Patrols on the A36, A350 and A303 on Tuesday and Wednes-day found 40 drivers not wearing seatbelts and saw 14 served with prosecutions.
The joint campaign between traffic officers based at Melksham and Salisbury also saw 15 drivers given speeding fines, six contravening white lines and three vehicles removed from the road.
Insp Cavan Moroney, manager of the Central Traffic Group at Melksham, said: "The results of our two-day high profile enforcement campaign demonstrate that there are still an unacceptable number of drivers that put their own and other road users' lives at risk by flouting traffic legislation by their poor manner of driving and the poor state of their vehicles."
l The results come as Wiltshire County Council continues to await the Government's decision as to whether it will fund an £8m safety scheme on the A36 and the £15m Westbury Bypass.
