SOUTHWICK: A woman police officer had to be taken to hospital in the early hours of yesterday morning after being assaulted by a man she was trying to arrest. The incident happened after officers were called to an address in Fleur de Lys Drive at 12.30am to deal with a suspected assault. They were trying to arrest a man when he attacked the officer, causing shoulder and hand injuries for which she was treated at Trowbridge Hospital. A 31-year-old man was arrested and taken to Melksham police station.
