A GAS pipeline company is to team up with farmers and landowners in the Melksham area to recycle and reuse spoil produced by its work on the highways.
Transco is offering free uncontaminated spoil suitable for making up farm tracks.
Each load of around 10 tonnes of spoil will be delivered free with Transco taking care of all the appropriate legal documentation such as obtaining tipping exemption licenses from the Environment Agency.
Transco manager Allan Paul said: "We produce thousands of tonnes of this spoil a year as a result of our work. Currently we are working in the Swindon and Melksham areas but in future we'll have spoil available in other parts of the county.
"Rather than taking the spoil many miles to a landfill site and using up valuable space, it is much more environmentally friendly to help local farmers by delivering the spoil to them for their own use. Everyone's a winner."
To receive a load of spoil contact Transco on (01249) 706960 or email allan.paul@uktransco.com
