DEFENDER Lee Burns fired home a late equaliser on Saturday and then admitted lessons would have to be learnt after a six-minute defensive horror show cost them victory.
A Toby Colbourne brace saw the hosts cruising at 2-0 with just over half an hour remaining but three goals in six second half minutes turned the match in Ilfracombe's favour.
Burns rescued a point with ten minutes left, heading in a right wing cross from debutant Matty Bown, but afterwards said it was two points dropped.
He said: "It was a strange game but when we were 2-0 up, we were strolling it and looked capable of scoring even more.
"It is inevitable that James Dowd, Mark Pearce and myself will take time getting to know each other in the back three but we have to make sure we learn from what happened on Saturday.
"If we had conceded goals like that three months down the line, then more questions would have been asked but hopefully we are just experiencing teething troubles."
Westbury started the match at a good pace and Colbourne, Seals and Burns all saw early chances go begging.
The visitors' first chance came on 30 minutes but young goalkeeper Lewis Porter reacted well to thwart Steve Hobbs.
The hosts eventually took the lead on 45 minutes when Wayne Wheeler's volley towards goal was latched on to by Colbourne and last season's top scorer fired the ball into the top corner.
Colbourne doubled the lead on 59 minutes when he and Wheeler exchanged passes before he fizzed a low drive past Danny Turton into the net.
The match was then turned on its head with three Ilfracombe goals in six minutes two from Steve Burns and one from Chris Webber before Lee Burns rescued a point.
Manager Derek Graham, said: "I was very pleased with the performance but not with the result. It was not fair we dominated and could have won by eight.
"But the way we play we are always likely to concede goals. It was more like the old attacking Westbury."
