THOUSANDS of visitors enjoyed Seend Fete and the money raised seems set to beat last year's total.
The village fete and flower show was held on Saturday; the fete on the Lye Recreation Field and the flower show in the Social Club next to the field.
Last year the fete raised £5,500 for the upkeep and maintenance of the Lye Field and, although all the money has yet to be counted, the estimate from this year's fete is £6,000.
The fete kicked off with a fancy dress and float parade through the village, featuring fete princess Natalie A'Bear, 11, and attendants Megan Knight and Jessica Pearse.
Dogs from the Bassett Allsorts dog teams from Wootton Bassett provided a thrilling display of flyball which involved them racing in relays with a ball. The sights and sounds of the Wild West were recreated by the Westerners Show Team from Swindon.
Snuffy's magic show followed by Punch and Judy had children mesmerised.
A fire engine and crew from Devizes were also on display.
Colin Waldeck, chairman of Seend Fete, said: "We didn't expect to break any records this year but it seems as though we have with the amount raised."
There were 500 entries at the Seend Flower Show, which was slightly down on last year.
Charlie Mayell won the best in show for his selection of salad vegetables while Susan Symons and Betty Noad came away with a clutch of awards.
