A HOLT pub and a Corsham bed and breakfast have scooped awards naming them the best in Wiltshire.
The Tollgate Inn, Holt and Pickwick Lodge Farm bed and breakfast, Corsham, won gold in the Taste of the West Awards 2004.
The panel of judges, which included food critics, chefs and South West Tourism inspectors, showed up at the venues unannounced.
They were judged on use of local produce, speed of service, food quality, flavour, freshness and presentation, value for money and the ambience.
Alison Ward-Baptiste, 41, who owns The Tollgate Inn with partner Alexander Venables, 38, said: "We only specialise in local produce. It's all from local farms. We don't have any frozen food at all."
Gill Stafford, owner of Pickwick Lodge Farm, which uses locally sourced bacon, bread, dairy products and fruit on the breakfast menu, said: "We are thrilled to win a gold award and hope this will help us to develop our business further."
Great Ashley Farm bed and breakfast and At The Sign Of The Angel restaurant in Chippenham won bronze awards.
The gold winners will be entered into the final competition for the best south west pub and bed and breakfast, which will be announced on September 9.
