15677A CHEQUE for more than £400 was handed over to the Royal United Hospital's Forever Friends Appeal this week by staff at Asda.
The Trowbridge store came third in a national competition held by Muller to find the Asda store that best promoted their products.
The supermarket was awarded a £430 cheque to donate to a charity of its choice and chose the RUH's Forever Friends Appeal, which is aiming to raise £10m towards hospital improvements.
Nina Rack, corporate officer for the appeal, said: "The team at Asda are very pleased with themselves.
"I went along to the store to collect the cheque last Thursday.
"We are extremely grateful to them for choosing us as their charity when they could have picked any charity in the country."
The cheque presentation was made outside Asda at about 3pm on Thursday, with lots of onlookers gathered around.
The Forever Friends Appeal is well on the way to reaching its half way mark of £5m.
The appeal aims to raise funds needed for new diagnostic and treatment equipment for the hospital.
The appeal was launched in 1999 by former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell.
