NEW College are hoping to continue their promising start in the Premier Division when they take on Corsham Town this weekend, writes RAY BURROUGHS.
Despite losing their first game at Warminster after being two goals to the good, College bounced back in midweek by defeating last season's runners up AFC Stratton 2-1.
Stratton boss Stef Kucynski (pictured right) thought the young College side played some good football in the first half and deserved their lead.
Things were more even after the break and Stratton could have saved the game had they taken their chances.
"I am not too disappointed by our defeat because we created plenty of chances," said the Stratton boss.
Stratton entertain Warminster Town at the Premier club and, following their midweek draw at Bradford, the visitors will be looking for another good result.
Chiseldon Castrol have suffered a couple of defeats in their opening matches but should have done better at Cricklade in midweek.
Leading 2-0 with 20 minutes to go, they conceded four goals in the last quarter of the game.
Manager Graham Clements said: "For some reason we ran out of steam. We played well for three parts of the game and I am sure we will recover."
Cricklade Town have started well, winning both their opening games. They play Calne Town at home and can make it three wins on the trot.
Aldbourne have lost their first two games and will have to play out of their skin if they are to get a result at Bradford.
Purton Reserves, badly affected by the defection of almost their entire first team have been beaten 1-0 in both opening games and will be hoping for better luck against Melksham at the Red House.
In Junior Division One, Wroughton have won their first two matches and could well make it three at Marlborough.
Down Ampney would appear to have a strong side this season scoring six against West Swindon and nine against Blunsdon in midweek without conceding a goal.
They take on West Side who are no mugs and could give them their hardest game so far.
Stratton Rovers formerly Trax take on Swindon Asians and Blyskawica entertain AFC Stratton Reserves.
New sides in Junior Two fared well in their opening games. Castle Combe visit Chiseldon Castrol Reserves and Chippenham United also visit Swindon to take on Pinehurst OB.
n Pinehurst striker Kevin Taylor helped himself to four goals in a 5-0 win over AFC Rodbourne in last night's Junior Two encounter, Shane Davies also scoring.
Wroughton Reserves gained a 3-0 win at Westside Reserves thanks to goals from Vinny Gillingham, Martin Killick and an own goal.
Dynamobury beat Chiseldon Castrol Reserves 6-0.
In Junior One, Minety won 4-1 at Biddestone.
There was just one game in the Premier, Westbury United beating Shrewton United 7-1, with Marc Lanfear (4), Paul Alford, Paul Beavan and Rob Taylor. Danny Weston replied.
Other results: Chippenham Utd 2 Bromham Res 3; County Ground 0 Westlecott 0; Stratton Rovers Res 1 Barron Heating 2; Tidworth 1 Castle Combe 1; Westside Res 0 Wroughton Res 3.
