MARK COLLIER says his Swindon Supermarine side are already showing signs of inconsistency just two games into the new season.
Marine opened with a fine 3-2 win at Bedworth before losing 2-0 at home to Evesham on Tuesday.
Phases in both performances ranged from the sublime to the sub-par, with two mediocre first-half displays followed by a pair of vastly improved showings after the interval.
Now Collier wants one cohesive 90-minute display with Marine on top of their game from the start, preferably beginning with the visit of Bromsgrove tomorrow.
Said Collier: "The first half on Tuesday we were poor, the same as Saturday.
"Evesham scored two goals in two minutes and were the better side.
"Then we really got at them again in the second half, hit the post, hit the bar, and were unlucky.
"I'm not saying we deserved to get anything from the game but once we got to grips with it, it was a far better performance.
"That gives me some encouragement.
"We just need to be more consistent not just from game to game, but within individual games.
"We want a good display for the full 90 minutes."
Visitors Bromsgrove were tipped as Division One West title contenders pre-season, but have started poorly, drawing 1-1 at home to Oxford City before a 3-0 pasting at Cinderford midweek.
"Bromsgrove were one of the favourites,'' added Collier.
"They haven't started well but with the crowds they get I expect them to be up there come the end of the season.
"Apparently, Cinderford beat them up a bit on Tuesday night, as they often do at their place.
"We haven't got the physical capability to do that so we'll just have to try and play the better football."
Collier has three fitness doubts for the match.
Skipper Giles Harris hobbled off at half-time on Tuesday with a knee problem.
Defender Steve Bennett is still struggling with the calf strain that saw him sit out the Evesham game and midfielder Dave Gee has a hamstring complaint.
Collier is hoping that at least two of the three pass fitness tests.
