FATHER Peter Garnett has set off for a 900-mile cycle ride across the length of Britain to thank medics who operated on his newborn baby.
Leah was born in March and was found to have a cleft lip but an operation in June has completely solved the problem.
Peter, 35, of Abbey Meads, is cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End.
He is raising cash for the John Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford, where Leah was treated, the Cleft Lip and Palate Association and Zurich Cares charity, as he works at Zurich as a technical analyst.
He said: "We were pleased with Leah's treatment she only has a small scar now.
"I wanted to raise as much money as I can for all the causes. So far I have £2,500 in sponsorship but more would be welcomed."
He expects the journey, which will include a rest day at home on the way south, will finish on September 4 and he will cycle 80 miles a day.
