VAN the Man is coming back to Swindon. The Oasis Leisure Centre yesterday confirmed that Van Morrison will be appearing on October 21.
By coincidence, the 58- year-old Belfast singer songwriter's appearance will be six years to the day since his concert at the Oasis Centre was recorded for a bootleg album Putting The Boot In.
Morrison's extraordinary career began in earnest when he formed the band Them 40 years ago.
When the band split in 1966 he headed to America and a year later recorded his first hit single, Brown Eyed Girl.
Since then his success has mainly been with albums.
Astral Weeks, released in 1969, features regularly in lists of critics' top albums ever made.
In recent years he has featured in collaborations with other artists, such as the Chieftains, Georgie Fame, Lonnie Donegan, John Lee Hooker and even Cliff Richard.
Tickets, priced £27 and £23.50, plus a £2 booking fee, will be available from the Oasis Leisure Centre. Telephone 01793 445401.
