A record number of babies lined up with their parents in The Shires shopping centre in Trowbridge on Monday to have their photographs taken on the first day of a week-long shoot to find the Wiltshire Times Baby of the Year.

More than 60 babies were photographed by BCR Photographic for entry into this year's competition.

Centre manager Steve Murray said: "The photographer said she has never experienced such a fantastic turn out on the first day of shooting.

"It was hectic from start to finish and she was shattered at the end of the day."

There is still time to get your child's photograph taken for the competition, as the photographer will by in The Shires, in the main area outside Greggs Bakery, from 9.30am until 5.30pm today and tomorrow Saturday August 21. Don't forget to take along the completed entry form below.

Appointments are not necessary, but please note that the photographer will be at lunch between 1pm and 2pm each day.

You will need to be available to return to The Shires on Thursday August 26 and Friday August 27 when the photos that have been taken will be on display. This will be your opportunity to choose the entry you want to go into the contest, and purchase any of the photos, if you wish.

Finalists will be voted for by readers and Mr Murray is to present voucher prizes to category winners and a trophy to the overall winner at the final in The Shires in September.

This year the prizes are being provided by The Shires shopping centre, local traders in the centre, and companies that provide a service to help maintain the efficient running the centre.
