CHIPPENHAM remain top of the early Premier Division standings despite dropping two points at home in an entertaining 1-1 draw with Rugby United.
The Bluebirds looked to be on course for a third straight win when Martin Paul rose to head home Ellis Wilmot's cross after 16 minutes.
Paul, without usual strike partner James Constable who was injured, had two decent chances to double his tally before the visitors levelled on the stroke of half-time.
Matthew McEntegart conceded a free-kick which the Chippenham defence failed to clear and Rory Squire netted.
Steve White's Bluebirds largely dominated in the second half with Rugby keeper Dean Thomas frustrating the home faithful on numerous occasions.
But the away side nearly snatched it when Craig Dutton hit an upright.
CHIPPENHAM: Hervin, Regis, W Thorne, G Thorne, Herring, McEntegart, Wilmot, Badman, Paul, Allison, Walker. Subs: Kirk, Davidson, Horgan.
CHIPPENHAM travel to Team Bath tonight, kick-off 7.30pm.
The university side won their first game of the season with an impressive 4-0 triumph at Banbury on Saturday.
Cirencester entertain Hednesford on Tuesday, the same night Supermarine travel to Marlow in Division One West.
