Cricklade Town, who had got off to a great start in the Premier Division, found themselves on the receiving end when they were beaten 5-2 at home by newcomers to the section Calne Town Reserves.

Manager Graham Jackson was not too happy with his side who played most of the second half with 10 men, following the sending off of striker Martin Swaddon.

"We had just equalised, and began to play a bit but down to 10 men we lost our shape and became ragged."

Chris King gave the visitors an interval lead but soon after the restart Swaddon equalised for Cricklade and eight minutes into the half was sent off. Ronnie Kallmeier then put Calne in front but the 10 men fought back to level the scores through Martin Jackson.

A defensive error then let in Kallmeier to score a third and Ally Duncan and Nick Fielden added two more to settle the home side's fate.

Calne boss Rob Fry was delighted with his side and said:"It was a very good win, Cricklade are one of the stronger sides in the section, we played very well and I was pleased with the effort the lads put in."

AFC Stratton bounced back from their midweek loss to New College to inflict the first defeat of the season on Warminster Town, 4-0.

The home side started well and found themselves two up at the break, both goals coming from the penalty spot courtesy of Jimmy Wright.

After the interval the visitors had a strong appeal for a penalty turned down before further goals from Rick Casey and Richard Martin secured a comfortable victory for the home side. Startton boss Stef Kucynski was happy with the result and said: "I thought we were the better side on the day and the scoreline didn't flatter us a bit."

New College were two goals to the good after 25 minutes with strikes from Scott Lane and David Pratt. However visitors Corsham fought back to equalise with goals from James Weston and Adam Taylor to level the scores at 2-2. In an evenly balanced second half neither side added to their total and both sides shared the points.

Bradford Town finally got their goal machine in gear, defeating visitors Aldbourne 6-3.

Last season's highest scorers had been finding goals hard to come by in their opening games and things looked far from rosy as they trailed by two goals from Aldbourne's Steve Thomas and Darren Woodfield.

To make matters worse Russell Francis then missed from the penalty spot but minutes later Peter Martin pulled a goal back.

It was a different story in the second half as Tom Pang equalised and Mike Holbourne headed in from a corner. Charlie Powell then added a fourth and Pang and Nathan Gant completed the scoring. The visitors pulled a further goal back in the closing stages from a free-kick by Woodfield.

Bromham, new to the section did well to beat Shrewton United 3-1.

United took an early lead with Ronald Eugine heading in from a corner but the home side fought back to level the scores Lee Davies netting following a goal-mouth scramble.

Bromham looked the better side after the break and Andy Davies was hauled down in the box and Tom Paget converted the spot kick.

Darren Brown was having a great game for the home side in midfield and helped Nathan West make sure of victory in the closing stages.

Purton were held to a 1-1 draw at the Red House by visitors Melksham.

In Junior Division One, Down Ampney brought their goals for tally to 20 from three games when they defeated West Side 5-1.

The teams were level at a goal apiece at the break Mark Connelly for Westside and Mark Harper for Ampney. After the interval the home side took control and added further goals from Terry Moore (2), Arthur Levett and Mark Harper.

Marlborough Town Reserves boss Chris Simmons thought his side were superb in their 4-1 win over Wroughton. Lee Bicknell (2), Danny Sly and Matt Dobson were on target for the Town and Mike Wilson scored for the visitors.

Liam Humphreys and Steve Stewart struck for AFC Stratton Reserves in their 2-1 away win over Blyskawica, Dave Jones scoring for the home side.

Blunsdon were 3-0 up against Lower Stratton who fought back to score twice in the second half. Danny Pearson (2) and Craig Green netting for Blunsdon and Alan Clarke (2) for the home side.

There were plenty of goals in Junior Two, Barron Heating leading the way with an 11-0 win over visitors Dynamobury Jamie Williams (5), Mike Austin and Shawn Hutt two apiece, Martin Lewis and Johnny Coole the scorers.

Newcomers Castle Combe, on their first visit to Swindon, beat Chiseldon Castrol Reserves 9-1. James Pope (4), Chris Leonard (2), Jamie Winks (2) and Leighton Brown on target with Dave Rendell scoring a consolation for the home side.

Pinehurst OB beat Chippenham United 4-3 in an entertaining game.

Kevin Taylor (2), Roger Mundy and Steve Davies scored for the home side.

Vince Gillingham bagged a hat-trick for Wroughton Reserves in their 4-2 away win over AFC Rodbourne.

Barry Armstrong scored the only goal of the game for AFC Abbey Rodbourne in the last five minutes against County Ground and Stratton St Margeret registered a 3-2 away win at Tidworth.
