Swindon drivers ignoring the town's speed limits are paying the price in fines.
William Watson, 38, of Carstairs Avenue, was caught by safety cameras doing 69mph in a Toyota Celica GT on Kingsdown Road more than twice the 30mph limit.
Magistrates in Devizes fined Watson £250, ordered him to pay £35 costs and gave him six penalty points for the offence.
Another Swindon man, Andrew Styles, 45, of Sunnyside Avenue, was caught doing 99mph on the 70mph A419 at Cricklade in a Honda.
He was fined £200, ordered to pay £35 costs and received five penalty points.
Among the other Swindon drivers fined by that court were:
l John Gurhy, 33, of Keats Crescent, fined £320 with £35 costs and six penalty points for doing 54mph in the Kingsdown Road 30mph zone in an Audi.
l Helen Powell, 33, of Pearl Road, Middleleaze, fined £100 with £35 costs and six penalty points for travelling at 70mph in the Thamesdown Drive 40mph zone in a Honda Civic.
l Susan Carter, 37, of Jennings Street, fined £180, with £35 costs and six penalty points for driving at 52mph in the 30mph zone on Oxford Road, in Stratton St Margaret, in a Volkswagen Golf.
"We catch scores of speeding drivers every day in Wiltshire," said the safety camera unit manager David Frampton.
"But this gives us no satisfaction. Our target isn't to catch people speeding but, by 2010, to reduce by 40 per cent the numbers of people killed or injured.
"We also aim to reduce the numbers of children killed or seriously injured by 50 per cent by the same time."
