AN archaeological site will be opened to the public who can visit it for free during a special heritage weekend.
People will have another opportunity to explore the Groundwell Ridge site and find out what was discovered during the 2004 excavations through a programme of guided tours.
The event, which takes place on September 11 and 12, is part of Heritage Open Days which aim to celebrate England's architecture and culture.
Organised by English Heritage, the open days allow visitors free access to interesting properties and sites that are either not usually open or would normally charge an entrance fee.
Guided tours of Groundwell Ridge will take place throughout the Saturday with three tours on Sunday, including one for wheelchair users and people with limited mobility.
Tours take approximately 40 to 45 minutes, with an extra 15 minutes required to walk from the meeting point at North Swindon Library.
Tours for people with limited mobility will start from St Andrew's Ridge Village Centre and transport will be available to take people back to the ridge.
An adult must accompany all children. Booking is required for the tours. For details of times and availability call Laura Bullivant on 01793 414844 or email laura.bullivant@English-heritage.org.uk
