A GROUP of Swindon artists and musicians have joined forces to raise money for the people in the Darfur region of Sudan.

More than 18 months of violence and bloodshed have left the region in what has been described as one of the worst humanitarian disasters in history.

More than a million people were forced to flee their homes to escape the fighting which has killed 50,000 people.

To try to help ease the suffering, businesses are being urged to take part in what is being hailed as the greatest works night out ever on September 29 at the Casbah in John Street.

Four hundred and fifty friends and colleagues from different firms will enjoy a mix of live music, comedy, living art, the magic of John Williams, drums and circus skills.

It is hoped that around £4,000 can be raised between 9pm and 1am.

Several local businesses have already ensured that the evening can go ahead through their generosity on hearing of the humanitarian crisis at the heart of this event.
